The summer of 2019 was hot, but our trip to Chicago for work and some fun is one trip we’ll always remember. We spent the week going to A’s games, exploring the city, local bars and food. It wasn’t such a windy city during our trip; it was blazing hot but a summer trip to remember.
Our family trip to Germany in 2019 is one I’m sure we’ll all remember for a long time. It was the first time the whole family was back on a trip in 10 years with the previous time being in Hawaii. This time we got to explore the beautiful city of Munich, visit.
Once we arrived in Germany and got settled by dropping our stuff off we visited Marienplatz, which is a central square in the city centre of Munich with lot of shopping, places to eat and beer gardens to have a drink, and a lively marketplace. A massive tourist attraction is the Rathaus-Glockenspiel. The clock has a show every day at 11 a.m. and noon where tons of people gather to hear the Glockenspiel chime and watch life-sized figures dance and spin reenacting historical Bavarian events.
The various marketplaces, hofbrouhaus, cathedrals, and palaces all throughout Munich made it such a wonderful experience. If you’re ever considering a trip to Germany, it should definitely be considered a stop on your list!

For those that know me, soccer has always been a massive part of my life. I loved playing as a kid, and as I grew older I absolutely loved the competitive nature of the game and my travel experiences because of it. The game in America is nothing like Europe, though it’s made positive progress forward all these years later. I’ve never forget my experiences when my family traveled to Germany for the 2006 world cup and watching Sweeden vs Trinidad & Tobago in Dortmunds massive stadium. It was an unreal experience. We were back in Germany in 2019 to watch Eintracht Frankfurt play Augsburg. And exciting match that ended in a 2-1 victory for Augsburg.
We moved to New York in November of 2016. Four years have nearly flown by, and the more time we spend here, the more we fall in love with the city, the people, the places, things to do, and the food. There’s always something going on it’s clear why it’s been called the city that never sleeps. The Empire State building was one of the first iconic buildings in the city that we just had to see.
Here are a few cool facts we’ve learned about it over our time here:
The building took just over a year to build, with over 3,000+ men working on the building every day
The top most tower was originally designed to doc airships
4 million people annually visit the building’s observation decks
The Chrysler building is another iconic New York sky scraper. We’ve lived 8 blocks from this building for all of our time in New York so far, and it’s truly one of my favorite buildings, especially looking at it at night. When we first moved, our apartment had a nice view of the building, which is now blocked by a far more modern sky scraper that is a residential building. I used to walk by the Chrysler building every day to work and back and always loved the walk moving towards it from uptown. Here are some of the photos I’ve taken of it over time.
Radio City Music Hall is another amazing and iconic building in midtown. We have been fortunate to live so close to it, and can even stick our head out of our apartment window and look down the street to see it’s signs glow in the night. It’s such a massive attraction for tourists from all over the world and typically has people inside and out at all times of the year. Recently I was able to get some great photos in the evening of it on a walk during lockdown.
